About
Us
The
St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office Explorer Post 1324 was
chartered in December 1998 with the creation of the Explorer
Coordinator Position within the Sheriff's Department. Since
that time well over 100 youth from throughout St. Tammany
Parish have participated in our program. Currently our membership
stands at 25 active and 10 associate members (college students
away from home).
Post
members are involved in numerous community service projects:
Child Fingerprinting, Annual Senior Citizens Christmas Dinner,
Community Safety Events and the St. Tammany Parish Fair just
to name a few. To obtain additional information contact Lt.
Sterling Hebert at 985-875-2616 or email: stpsocrc@bellsouth.net

Additional information and program
activities
Welcome
to the St. Tammany Parish Junior Deputy/Explorer Post 1324.
This page is dedicated to providing information about the
program and the activities members participate in. The most
important aspect of this program is that it is youth based
and adult supervised. Candidates that wish to become a part
of this program must meet certain minimum performance standards:

higher
- Attend meetings as set by adult advisors
or youth board

projects supported
by the Sheriff's Office

This is just a glimpse of the requirements youth members must
follow. The Junior Deputy/Explorer Program consist of more
than work and community service. Members are trained in all
aspects of law enforcement, some of which are:
- Criminal Law

- Arrest Techniques
Although the main focus for the post in Law Enforcement, members
are involved in other aspects, the Junior Deputy/Explorers
are also part of the Boy Scout's Of America's Learning for
Life Schools to Careers Program. It is a program for both
young men and women, who have an interest in a public service
career or law enforcement. Our members are exposed to all
that scouting has to offer, some of which are:
- Camping & Outdoor skills
- Map Reading
- Outdoor Cooking
- Knot Tying
- Local & National Competitions
- Written Examinations
- Wilderness Survival
- Super Activity (a week long trip to a specified
destination)
Our
youth members are dedicated to their program and the community
we all serve. We are one of the top rated youth service programs
in South Louisiana. Our staff consists of Sheriff's Office
personnel and adult volunteers from the community. We consider
them second to none.
