Sheriff Strain has divided the parish into three districts thus allowing detectives to focus their efforts on specific problem areas.  This has resulted in an increase in crimes solved in the past year.  The detectives assigned to an area can learn more about specific crime trends in the area as well as get to know the residents.  This establishment of a relationship between citizens and detectives provides for positive interaction when detectives need the public's assistance with solving crimes.

In addition, Sheriff Strain has assigned detectives to specialized fields, training them in certain types of crimes such as: property crimes (thefts, burglaries, and criminal damage) and crimes against persons: (robbery, battery, rape and murder).  Detectives undergo specialized training in their respective field of expertise so their efforts can be focused and they are better prepared to handle the cases.
