Pearl River Man Dead, Son in Custody

A Pearl River area man is in custody this morning for the overnight killing of his own father, Sheriff Jack Strain announced today.

Billie Glenn Rawson, Jr. (71128 Hwy 41, Pearl River – DOB: 11/14/1973) was apprehended by the Harrison County Sheriff’s Office early this morning after St. Tammany deputies alerted them to Rawson’s possible presence there.

Deputies responded to Rawson’s residence – which he shared with his father – at 4:30 this morning after receiving a call one of Rawson’s relatives.  The relative had spoken with Rawson, and during that conversation he admitted to killing his father.  Deputies found Rawson Sr’s body inside the residence.

During questioning by investigators, Rawson also admitted to them that he had killed his father.

The investigation is still in its early stages, and details concerning the manner and possible motive of the homicide will be provided as they become available.  The Coroner’s office will provide information about the cause and manner of death pending the outcome of their investigation.

Investigators obtained a search warrant for the residence; an arrest warrant for second degree murder is expected to be signed this afternoon.

Rawson is currently being held in Harrison County as a fugitive.  He will be brought to St. Tammany Parish to be booked with the homicide, pending extradition.
